• Week Two activity...

Just posting what we did in Week two - discussing what the three aspects may mean (besides the ones listed on the brief) to help us what information and analysis we will be covering in Project One.

House as an Environmental Filter (Firmness):
Other than systematic design logic, building performance, climatic filter, structural resolution, technology, resources, macro-environment and micro-environment...

One aspect that I have not thought of was the 'user relationship with the materials' (listed above) so that's something extra I can talk about it in my analysis.

House as a container for human activities (commodity):

Other than spatial relationships, adjacencies, circulation, functionality, context, family profile & needs, zoning of activities (public, semi-public, private, etc.), space distribution and collocation and schedule of activities...

I'm taking note of flexibility or accessibility for later in life, 'relationship with space' and instinctive sense of organisation -- very good points!

House is a delightful experience (delight):
Other than form, expression, aesthetics, composition, materials, structure, tectonics, materiality and sensory experiences - sight, smell, touch and taste...

Keynotes: connection of space and people; and social, personal and cultural level.

These tutorial lists really helped. I found that the ones listed on the brief are too impersonal and broad. I think the tutorial lists will help more in the analysis of the house.

I have chosen the Taringa House & Studio by Rex Addison for further analysis - I think it would be really interesting plus I already got lots of information on it. And I shall start breaking it down to three aspects, which will be my next post! I think...
